Expedition Campus and project weeks: Visits by pupils to the faculty
In the first quarter of the new year, we were once again able to welcome numerous students to workshops and project weeks at the faculty. In the last week of March, for example, two 11th grade classes from Thuringian grammar schools were guests as part of the Expedition Campus program. In the workshop "Economics in the Experiment: Public Goods and Collective Action", conducted by Prof. Dr. Alexander Kemnitz and Elisa Fritzlar, the students playfully examined the challenges of providing public goods - such as security or climate protection - and developed possible solutions.
At the end of February, the faculty also took part in the Martin-Andersen-Nexö-Gymnasium (Manos) project week in Dresden for the first time. The secondary school, which specializes in mathematics and science, has been a TUD cooperation school since 2023 and organizes a project week for the 7th grade. Prof. Dr. Christian Leßmann's project "Elections and data: Using statistics to analyze the election results of the AfD" was met with great interest by teachers and students alike. As part of the project week, three students were guests at the Chair of Economics, esp. International Economics. There they received an introduction to the basics of regression analysis and were then able to apply the method independently with RStudio using a simple data set and present the results at the final event at HTW Dresden.
