Prof. Hornuf interviewed by MDR Sachsen on the movie2k trial
On May 4, 2026, MDR Sachsen interviewed Prof. Lars Hornuf about the so-called movie2k trial at the Landgericht Leipzig, which, among other things, concerns profits amounting to billions generated from Bitcoin holdings. These investments were allegedly financed through the illegal activities of the streaming platform.
In the interview, Prof. Hornuf explains key fundamentals of cryptocurrencies. A central topic was the role of Bitcoin in a criminal context. He also commented on the decision of the Free State of Saxony to sell seized Bitcoins at an early stage, noting that the aim was to secure their value and avoid potential future losses.
