Dimitria Freitas wins SOLE Best Poster Award at the 6th World Labour Conference
Dimitria Freitas from the Chair of Economic Policy and Economic Research, received the SOLE Best Poster Award at the 6th World Labour Conference (Toronto, June 2025) for her paper “The Effect of Public Sector Relocations on Regional Development in Germany.” Her study combines difference-in-differences and spatial matching techniques to quantify how decentralizing public agencies reshape local employment both in the receiving and sending locations.
This year’s meeting—jointly organised by the Society of Labor Economists (SOLE), the European Association of Labour Economists (EALE), and for the first time also the Asian Association of Labour Economics (AALE)—was the largest labour-economics conference ever convened, bringing together scholars from six continents for over 500 presentations.
As part of the award, Dimitria earns complimentary registration to SOLE 2026 in Denver, CO. You can find more about her work at: https://sites.google.com/view/dimitriafreitas/.
