"Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis" - Commitment at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the TU Dresden
With the program line “Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis“ (Ukraine digital), the DAAD supports Ukrainian universities in maintaining, implementing and offering their digital teaching programs so that students as well as academics in and from Ukraine have a perspective on continuing their academic careers despite the restrictions caused by the war.
Within the framework of the sub-project "TU Dresden builds bridges", a total of 14 professors and lecturers from the Western Ukrainian National University in Ternopil, UA, visited the Faculty of Economics at TU Dresden during the week of October 3-8, 2022. They participated in a comprehensive training program of the Chair of Information Management on the digitalization and internationalization of Higher Education. This was the second phase of the measures for the digitalization of the German-language degree program (DSG) "International Economy" at WUNU, which is also funded by the DAAD. Details about this measure and the subproject of the TU Dresden here.
The visit week included a cultural program on 03.10.22 and daily workshops with Prof. Dr. Eric Schoop and research associates of the Chair of Information Management in English on digital/hybrid learning formats and especially on the COIL concept (collaborative online international learning). On behalf of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Prof. Dr. Alexander Kemnitz, Dean of Studies and coordinator of the DSG "International Economy", welcomed the guests. The first theoretical and practical insights into the methodologies for the joint development of COIL case scenarios as well as the implementation of social learning analytics were complemented by the visit of a multiplier event on the topic of Open Educational Resources (OER) on COL (collaborative online learning, the central topic of this training week), the participation in a BarCamp of the TU Dresden project virTUos, as well as in the interdisciplinary scientific conference GeNeMe (Communities in New Media), where several contributions in German and English picked up on the topics discussed and complemented the perspective of the TU Dresden. The many and diverse impressions were classified in daily evaluation discussions with staff members of the Chair of Information Management.
From 10.10.2022 the Ukrainian colleagues will receive a 10-week online qualification as e-tutors in order to develop special didactic, organizational, social and technical skills. These will be integrated into a joint international COIL project between TU Dresden and WUNU and possibly other partner universities from Ukraine in the summer semester of 2023.
