Structure and procedure

A total of 120 credit points are awarded in the Master's in Business Education and Management Training. The standard period of study is therefore 4 semesters of full-time study, although flexible part-time study is also possible in field of study I. There are two fields of study available to you: Business Administration and Economics-oriented field of study I and field of study II, in which a general education qualification is chosen.

In both directions, the degree program basically consists of

• the compulsory area of Business with a strong focus on Business Education and Management Training,
• the compulsory elective area of Economics, in which you can deepen your knowledge of Business Administration and Economics and
  -and pedagogical knowledge and specialization, and the Master's thesis.
• and the Master's thesis.

In addition, there are the compulsory and compulsory elective areas of the chosen specialization in field of study II.

Compulsory area of business

In the field of study I, the compulsory area of business comprises a total of 25 credit points, in the field of study II it is 20 credit points.

In order to prepare you for your professional practice, the design of qualification and educational processes in the context of commercial training and further education, it has a strong focus on business didactics.

Business electives

The business elective area begins in the first semester. It comprises 75 credit points in specialization I and includes modules from the fields of Business Administration and Economics, Business Education and Management Training, Methods and Procedures, Research Design and Supplementary Qualifications. When choosing modules, you only need to adhere to these point limits :

• at least 15 credit points in the area of Business Education and Management Training, including at least 10 credit points from the area's core modules,
• at least 30 credit points in the field of Business Administration and Economics,
• at least 10 credit points in the field of methods and procedures,
• 10 credit points in the field of research design and
• a maximum of 10 credit points in the area of supplementary qualifications.

Within the areas of Business Administration and Economics, Methods and Procedures and Supplementary Qualifications, there are various profiles available to you for further specialization . In the field of study II , the Business elective area comprises 30 - 40 credit points, depending on the qualification direction. Here you must complete modules worth

• 20 credit points in the area of Business Administration and Economics and
• 10 credit points in the area of research design

area. In addition, 5 or 10 credit points must be earned in the area of methods and procedures in the qualification area of computer science or mathematics.

Qualification direction

The Master's degree in Business Education and Management Training continues the seven qualification directions already established in the Bachelor's degree. You can therefore choose from the subjects:

• German,
• English,
• Ethics/Philosophy,
• computer science,
• History,
• French and
• mathematics
   

in order to prepare for a teaching position at vocational schools.

Both the total scope(40 - 50 credit points) and the division into compulsory and compulsory elective modules differ in the qualification courses. Master's thesis

The Master's thesis (20 credit points) is written in the 4th semester. The processing time is 4 months. The Master's thesis demonstrates that you are able to work independently and scientifically on an issue in Business Administration and Economics or Business Education.

To support your Master's thesis, you will attend the appropriate modules in the field of research design. There you will learn about research methods that are relevant to your Master's thesis, present your interim results and discuss them.

To be able to start your Master's thesis, you must have earned at least 75 credit points . You must also have taken part in an empirical research study as a test subject. You must start your Master's thesis no later than the semester after passing the last module examination.
