A Strong Signal for Digital Health: Hannes Schlieter Appointed as Extraordinary Professor
We warmly congratulate apl. Prof. Dr. Hannes Schlieter on his appointment as Extraordinary Professor of Business Information Systems, in particular Digital Health, at Technische Universität Dresden.
Since 2021, Hannes Schlieter has headed the Research Group Digital Health at the Faculty of Business and Economics. After successfully completing his habilitation in the summer of 2024, he can now continue his successful work under a new title – and will also officially take on the supervision of doctoral candidates within his area.
Commenting on his appointment, apl. Prof. Hannes Schlieter stated: “I am pleased and deeply honored to have been appointed as Extraordinary Professor (apl. Prof.) of Business Information Systems, in particular Digital Health.
This recognition reflects a decade of intensive research and teaching in this exciting and socially relevant field.
I see this step less as a personal achievement and more as a shared success – the result of a strong team, inspiring collaborations, and valuable academic mentorship.” — apl. Prof. Dr. Hannes Schlieter
Special thanks also go to Prof. Dr. Werner Esswein. The research group originated from his Chair of Wirtschaftsinformatik, in particular System Development, where Hannes Schlieter had been active since 2008. This foundation provided today’s research group with a solid start within a classic academic environment of Business Information Systems. Building on these roots, the team has successfully evolved in recent years, advancing digital transformation in healthcare and steadily growing – most recently welcoming new members Madita Schädlich, Felix Reinsch, and Nick Heidmann, bringing the team to a total of 15 members.
The Research Group Digital Health is delighted about this recognition – both for apl. Prof. Dr. Hannes Schlieter personally and for the entire team – and expresses its gratitude to the Faculty of Business and Economics and Technische Universität Dresden for their trust and continued support.
