Kick-Off of the New European Joint Action EUnetCCC

Work Package 5 Kick-Off in Paris (10/2024)
On October 1, 2024, the new European Joint Action EUnetCCC - European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centers - was officially launched. This initiative represents the largest European healthcare collaboration to date, with 163 partners from 31 countries joining forces over the next four years to advance the establishment and networking of Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCCs) across Europe. The primary objective is to support the central goal of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan: ensuring that at least 90% of cancer patients have access to high-quality cancer care. EUnetCCC aims to achieve this by establishing at least 100 CCCs across Europe.
Our Research Group Digital Health makes a vital contribution to this project by supporting with the development of a maturity model that will serve as a tool for advancing and certifying Comprehensive Cancer Centers and Comprehensive Cancer Care Networks. This will include implementing and testing a digital data collection and analysis tool throughout the project. Additionally, our focus is on enhancing patient pathways in Europe: we are creating new European patient pathway templates, updating existing ones from former Joint Actions iPAAC and CraNE, piloting them in multiple networks, and supporting their implementation at the pilot sites across Europe. We are also responsible for establishing and evaluating a European patient pathway repository and designing and testing a governance framework to guide the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of pathway templates at the European level.
We are excited to collaborate with both familiar and new partners from across Europe as we work together to improve cancer care.
