Publication in BISE Journal: Designing Virtual Coaching Solutions
We are delighted that our contribution to Designing Virtual Coaching Solutions has been accepted and published in BISE Journal. On paper, the article will appear later this year in the course of the special issue “Reimagining Digital Health: Advances in Patient-Centeredness, Artificial Intelligence, and Data-Driven Care Research”. The study results are part of our impressive EU project vCare that accompanied our Research Group Digital Health between 2017-2022. The study delves into the design and evaluation of Virtual Coaches (VCs) as a digital health intervention to support older adults in home rehabilitation. By leveraging adaptive, human-like avatars, we aim to improve quality of life and ensure continuous care post-hospitalization. Tested with real patients using real data (in real-world cases) in different European regions (Italy, Spain, Romania), our research provides robust evidence of VCs' effectiveness. So, this study moves IS research (in the digital health domain) out of the laboratory setting into the waters of real healthcare. The study also offers a comprehensive list of design principles (DPs) and design features (DFs) for future implementations.
