Senior's Cooperatives
Research problem and motivation
The demographic development advances rapidly, especially in Saxony. Consequently, new concepts are required to enable seniors an independent life. Senior's cooperatives as a form of self-help on an exchange basis could be such a concept.
Methods and research focuses
- It has been shown what special demographic challenges exist and what (monetary) effects on social systems could be achieved in accordance with fewer stationary patients and lower costs.
- Furthermore, a concept of a specific arrangement of a seniors' cooperative has been developed.
Results
- Model calculations about the effects of seniors' cooperatives on social funds (University of Freiburg)
- Exemplary interviews with seniors' organisations
- Design of a concept for the establishment and operation of a seniors' cooperative considering fiscal, law related, communicative and social aspects
- Presentation of the advantages of the concept on a monetary level, but also especially on a non-material and social levels (strengthening of personal initiative and the own care)
