To the Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting
RESEARCH FOCUS
The Chair deals with three main questions of environmental management:
- Which general conditions are relevant for the private sector and public facilities? How do they interact with these conditions?
- Which instruments are important for economic-ecological optimisation in the decision-making process of companies?
- How are environmental management and sustainable development correlated?

Impaktsicherheit von Baukonstruktionen durch mineralisch gebundene Komposite
Titel (Englisch)
Building constructions' impact safety using mineral-bound composites
Kurzbeschreibung (Deutsch)
- neuen mineralisch gebundenen Kompositen (Feinkornbetonen) mit unterschiedlichen Faser-bewehrungen, die einen besonders hohen Widerstand gegen Impaktbelastung aufweisen;
- Konstruktionskonzepten und Bemessungsgrundlagen für die Verstärkung bestehender Betonkonstruktionen durch dünne Schichten aus neuen hochduktilen Verbundwerkstoffen sowie für neue Strukturen unter Verwendung von diesen neuartigen Betonen;
- geeigneten Mess- und Auswertungsmethoden zur Untersuchung der beim Impakt stattfindenden Prozesse wie Wellenausbreitung, Verformungs- und Bruchvorgänge etc.;
- Methoden zur numerischen Simulation des Verhaltens impaktbeanspruchter neuer Betone und Betonstrukturen mit Kopplung unterschiedlicher Raum- und Zeitskalen;

Kurzbeschreibung (Englisch)
Existing constructions from concrete or steel reinforced concrete generally have a low resistance to short-term dynamic stresses, such as impact, detonation or earthquakes. The central objective of the graduate school is to make exsting buildings and structures more resistant by the application of flat, thin-layer reinforcements. By the use of new mineral-bound composites, people's safety and important infrastructure can be significantly enhanced. The developed principles will furthermore enable the economic and ecological building of new structures, that will be highly resistant to impact stresses.
The Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting supervises the three-year dissertation project Der Lehrstuhl für Betriebliche Umweltökonomie betreut das 3-jährige Promotionsvorhaben „C2: Analysis and assessment of the sustainability and resilience of reinforcement methods with new composites“. The aim of the project is to develop an assessment concept that already takes the research and development phase into account through a sustainability and resilience assessment and results in more resilient and more sustainable composite materials. The concept aims to take technical, financial, societal and ecological influencing parameters into account and to enable quantitative prognoses and scenarios.
The graduate school's vision is composed of five parts, that involve the entire scale range from the materials to the construction. More specifically it targets the development of:
- new mineral-bound composites (fine-grained concretes) with different fibre reinforcements, that are highly resistant to impact stresses;
- construction concepts and measurement bases for the reinforcement of existing concrete constructions by using thin layers of new, highly ductile composite materials as well as for new structures using these new concretes;
- suitable measuring methods and evaluation methods for the examination of processes that take place during impact, such as wave propagation, deformation and breaking processes;
- methods for the numeric simulation of the behaviour of impact-stressed new concretes and concrete structures, linking different space and time scales;
- foundations of safety assessment and of economic-ecological assessments of reinforcement measures as well as the efficiency increase of relevant methods.
