Unternehmerische Naturkapitalbewertung in Namibia
Titel (Englisch)
Corporate Assessment of Natural Capital in Namibia
Kurzbeschreibung (Deutsch)

Kurzbeschreibung (Englisch)
In a mutual research project with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), the Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting takes part in the development of case studies for the corporate assessment of natural capital on the basis of the "Natural Capital Protocol". The cooperation with NUST is supported by the ResMob project. The "Resource Mobilisation for Biodiversity Conservation" (ResMob) project is conducted collaboratively by the Namibian „Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET)“ and the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH” (German Society for International Cooperation GmbH) by order of the BMUB (German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety). It addresses the improvement of Namibia’s biodiversity financing, with the objective to develop a national resource mobilisation strategy for the preservation of biodiversity with concrete political, economic and communicative implementation plans. The ResMob-project is part of the “Internationale Klimaschutzinitiative (IKI)” (International Climate Protection Initiative).
For this project, the Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting deals especially with the corporate assessment of natural capital on the basis of the „Natural Capital Protocols“. This involves ascribing values to nature and its services, as well as to document them and to integrate them in the corporate strategy and corporate control. In Namibia, the Chair of Environmental Management and Accounting was involved in conducting Scoping-Workshops with selected companies from the most important Namibian economic sectors.
