DAAD – Indo German Partnership

Overview

The overarching goal of the proposed collaborative network between Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) and Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) of Indian Institute for Science is to strengthen already existing excellent scientific and educational bilateral contacts and moreover to establish new contacts between researchers and students.

Implementation of nanoengineering solutions into life sciences and a better understanding of the complex physical molecular interactions of principles of life regarding structure and even more functionality as blue print for future nanotechnological developments are 2 key aspects of the joint scientific interests.

Apart from concrete research point, aiming at joined Master thesis and research staff exchange, educational programs such as lab trainings and summer schools are planned.

Aside from the scientific collaboration the information on specific aspects of Indian culture, society, economics and educational system at TUD will be organized by different formats with the activities supported by the well organized and active Indian community (Indian Association Dresden e.V.) of researchers and students already present.

Team of core partners is represented by both, university and non-university research institutions, which is necessary to keep the optimal balance between the research and educational components of the network. Furthermore, presence of the industrially oriented institutions, e.g. Fraunhofer IKTS, will bring the important input from the side of nano- and bio-oriented market players. The involved scientists and their institutions are widely recognized as key players in the field of nanoscience and biotechnology.

Dresden, as well as Bengalore are local regions in which high tech industries in IT soft- and hardware business are well established and life sciences related companies are devoling and require an increasing demand on both research activity but also well educated and trained human resources.
