Prof. Yael Politi Becomes New B CUBE Director

Prof. Yael Politi is the new director of the B CUBE – Center for Molecular Bioengineering at the TU Dresden. She succeeds Prof. Michael Schlierf who managed the institute since 2020.

Yael Politi is a Chair of Bioprospecting at the TU Dresden and a research group leader at the B CUBE since 2019. Her research focuses on biomaterials, materials found in nature and built by living organisms. The Politi research group studies how the – very often – intricate structures of biomaterials are built, and how the structure of biomaterial influences its properties and function.

“I am delighted to take over the B CUBE from Michael Schlierf, who had done a wonderful job leading the institute over the past two years,” says Prof. Politi. “The last two years were a challenge but we tackled it very well and grew stronger. I’m looking forward to what the next years are bringing and to all the new opportunities that wait for the B CUBE.”
