Wie alt ist unser menschlicher Körper wirklich?
Schlaf ist für alle Organismen mit einem Nervensystem essenziell. Der Fadenwurm C. elegans eignet sich durch sein einfaches Nervensystem hervorragend für die Erforschung der Regulation des Schlafes. Ein einzelnes Neuron, RIS, ist im Schlaf aktiv und ist schlafinduzierend. Genetische Manipulationen dieses Neurons ermöglichen die Entdeckung molekularer Mechanismen des Schlafs.
