The BIOTEC is located within the building complex BioInnovation Center (BioZ) in Dresden, which has provided an atmosphere essential for its development. In accordance with the motto "Science and Economy under one roof", the BioZ offers a unique opportunity for knowledge and technology transfer between the BIOTEC and local companies, as well as start-ups working on biotechnology and related fields of cutting-edge technology.

The construction of the BioZ building complex was embedded in the overall Saxon strategy to promote biotechnology for the economic strengthening of the location with the Biotechnology Offensive. Currently, 24 companies are located in the BioZ (as of 01/2021) - for questions regarding rental space please contact the management of the BioZ directly.

Within the designated BIOTEC part of the building complex BioZ, state-of-the-art laboratories, equipment rooms, offices, seminar and recreation rooms on a floor space of approx. 4,000 m² are housed. This space is exclusively dedicated to the researchers of BIOTEC, its guest groups and to some of the core facilities of the CMCB Technology Platform.
