TUD Golden Badge of Honor for Prof. Kai Simons
TU Dresden has awarded Prof. Kai Simons together with Alexander Busch, Prof. Manfred Curbach, Prof. Horst-Peter Götting, Prof. Ellen Hieckmann as well as Prof. Michael Kobel with the Golden Badge of Honor. The award recognizes TUD members who have provided outstanding services to the university and have accomplished extraordinary individual achievements.
“Today, life sciences in Dresden are internationally leading and form an important pillar of the TU Dresden excellence strategy. For more than 20 years, Kai Simons has accompanied many of Dresden's scientists on their way to excellence as a colleague and mentor. His enthusiasm, initiative, perseverance, wisdom, and humanity make him a role model for all scientists,” says Prof. Stefan Diez, managing director of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB).
Prof. Kai Simons is one of the founding directors of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG). He was the first managing director of MPI-CBG. Prof. Simons has had an impact far beyond the institute's borders as a tireless driving force for bioscience and biotechnology in Dresden. He vastly contributed to establishing Dresden as a global location for biotechnology and to making the life sciences an important pillar of the TU Dresden excellence strategy.
