New Facility Staff Member To Support Quality Assessment and Reproducibility in Light Microscopy
Dr. Jakub Pospíšil
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) has awarded funding to the project “Increased Resource Efficiency in Light Microscopy by Quality Control and Standards” led by Dr. Roland Nitschke (University of Freiburg), Dr. Hella Hartmann (TU Dresden), and Dr. Janina Hanne (GerBI-GMB, Konstanz). With a total investment of around one million euro the project will fund three positions over three years as part of a nationwide initiative to improve the sustainability of large-scale scientific equipment use. Dr. Jakub Pospíšil will be joining the CMCB Light Microscopy Facility of the Technology Platform of TU Dresden on one of these positions.
The grassroots initiative “Quality Assessment and Reproducibility for Instruments & Images in Light Microscopy” (QUAREP-LiMi) started in 2020 and developed into a consortium with more than 700 members from academia, industry, standardization and funding organizations.
The work of the Validation Team Lead in Dresden will be integrated into a collaborative effort with local colleagues of the Biopolis Dresden Imaging Platform (BioDIP) and beyond. The focus will be on testing, validating and automating methods and protocols developed in the QUAREP-LiMi community. Final methodologies for highest level of reproducibility in light microscopy will be disseminated and comparative studies will be performed.
