SCHOOLWISE | Kick-off Meeting
The Erasmus+ project SCHOOLWISE has officially started. At the kick-off meeting in Santa Margherita Ligure (Italy), research institutions, universities and networks of school principals from several European countries came together to begin cooperation on the project.
SCHOOLWISE addresses a central challenge in the education system:
How can data be used to improve learning and teaching without jeopardizing students' rights?
The focus here is on the responsible use of data, clear governance structures and ethical principles.
Among other things, the following foundations were laid during the kick-off:
- Development of a shared vision for the responsible use of data in schools
- initial guidelines for ethical governance and data protection in an educational context
- beginning the design of practical tools and training formats for teachers and school administrators
- Planning of pilot activities in several European countries
- Coordination of the project's visual identity and communication strategy
What happens next?
Over the next three years, SCHOOLWISE will support schools in
- Improve teaching and learning processes through a reflective use of data
- strengthen the skills of teachers and school administrators in dealing with educational data
- develop transparent and ethically sound approaches to data use
- Build trust in the handling of student data
A central principle of the project is
Pupils' rights take precedence over commercial interests.
We would like to thank our project coordinator, the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Italy), for organizing the kick-off meeting and getting the collaboration off to a successful start. Dr. Mattis Altmann & Thomas Richter are working on the project for CODIP, together with Andreas Schellenberger from the EPC team at TUD.
SCHOOLWISE aims to help schools not only to use data, but also to design and manage it responsibly.
