Workshops for young adult carers at the Bürgerlabor Dresden
According to recent statistics, around half of those in need of care in Germany are looked after by their relatives, including an increasing number of young adults. The Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) at TU Dresden is holding three workshops for young carers as part of the “Kraft-Copilot” project to offer a platform for discussion.
The workshops, which will take place between January and February 2024, concentrate primarily on self-care and networking. Methodologies such as Lego Serious Play and Photovoice will be used to offer the young adult carers an interactive means of reflection and communication.
During the LEGO® Serious Play® workshops, participants will build three-dimensional models on the basis of specific questions. Under the guidance of specialists, the workshop will focus on developing creative solutions and new perspectives that help the carers to better understand and communicate their own needs.
Photovoice allows participants to express their personal experiences and stories using photographs. Using smartphones or cameras, the young people can document meaningful moments associated with the care of their loved ones. In the following sessions, these stories and images will be shared in the group with the aim of building a supportive network and finding methods of self-care together.
