Science Communication Day 2026 at TUD

On September 1, 2026, it’s that time again: TUD is hosting its Science Communication Day. Researchers and science communicators at TU Dresden will have the opportunity to inform themselves about science communication, exchange ideas, receive further training and network.

Learn how research results can be transformed into understandable and comprehensible content in impulses, workshops and networking with stakeholders.

Program

The program will open on September 1 at 9:00 a.m. with a keynote address followed by a panel discussion on the topic “Who Can We Still Trust? Science Communication at the Intersection of Polarization and AI.” How is increasing polarization in society changing the way we handle knowledge and science communication? What role does the use of generative AI play in this context? And how can universities remain trustworthy in the face of changing conditions? In his keynote address, Olaf Kramer, Professor of General Rhetoric and Director of the Research Center for Science Communication at the University of Tübingen, will examine the conditions under which understanding is achieved, but also why it repeatedly fails; how rhetoric can help secure a social consensus; and how AI systems are changing political communication and the formation of public opinion.

From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a diverse program of workshops and presentations will offer extensive opportunities for professional development and exchange on the topic of science communication, covering subjects such as public relations, content creation for social media, podcast production, participatory formats, dealing with hostility, and best-practice insights.

To conclude the day, starting at 5:00 p.m., the Main Prize and the Young Researchers’ Prize for Excellence in Science Communication 2026 will be awarded in the Rectorate’s ballroom.
