46 million euros for climate protection in Dresden!
Dresden has made climate protection a top priority. The capital of Saxony wants to become climate-neutral by 2035. Around 7.5 million euros in funding will come from Brussels for ambitious climate protection projects. The joint EU application NeutralPath of the consortium partners City of Dresden, TU Dresden, SachsenEnergie, Wohnen in Dresden (WiD) and Vonovia convinced the European Commission. Dresden, hand in hand with the city of Zaragoza (Spain), wants to become a flagship project on the path to climate neutrality. Together with industry and science, over 46 million euros will be invested in sustainable and future-proof building and energy concepts in the coming years.
The TU Dresden will significantly support the state capital in the implementation. With NeutralPath, more climate-neutral and resource-saving buildings are to be created or restored. Prof. Clemens Felsmann, Chair of Building Energy Technology and Heat Supply at the Institute of Energy Technology, and Prof. John Grunewald, Chair of Building Physics at the Institute of Building Climatology at Technische Universität Dresden, are responsible for the scientific guidance and monitoring of the project.
The NeutralPath project builds on the results of the recent EU project MAtchUP. Since 2017, the cities of Dresden, Valencia (Spain) and Antalya (Turkey) have been working intensively with partners from industry and science on the topics of energy efficiency, digitization, renewable energies, multimodal mobility and electromobility and have implemented corresponding projects. The new projects will focus on the energy transition and thus also take account of current developments on the energy market.
