The FIS team presented the progress of the FIS renewal in the context of the first future lab
As part of the first Future Lab "How do we want to do research?", Prof. Friedrich Funke (Holder of the Chair of Educational Sciences with a focus on Quantitative Methods) and Dr. Anita Sbalzarini (Head of the Unit Research Information) jointly presented the software solution Pure (Elsevier), the new Research Information System (FIS) of TU Dresden with go-live in 2021: "In the future, all researchers at TU Dresden, from doctoral candidates to professors, will automatically receive access to the FIS in order to electronically enter their relevant key research information and achievements. For data entry, several third-party systems are also connected to the FIS, e.g. public publication databases, in order to significantly simplify the entry of research metadata. If desired, selected FIS content can be conveniently made available to the general public via the new research portal and also integrated into the TU Dresden websites. ", explained Dr. Sbalzarini.
"The software offers everyone their own researcher profile and automatically maps your personal research network graphically from the links to institutions and people recorded in the FIS. An integrated reporting module will also allow us to further professionalize research reporting in the future." In order to provide researchers with the best possible support in their daily use of the new FIS, we offer a wide-ranging support portfolio, such as a digital consultation hour, but also a classic FIS service desk via telephone and e-mail, as well as a digital manual and video tutorials in German and English. Short workshops with different focus of content are also planned." Prof. Funke pointed out: "The goal is a dynamic bottom-up system in which everyone controls their own entries and with which time-consuming multiple entries can be avoided."
