Top ranking: Successful start for TU Dresden in Horizon 2020
Technische Universität Dresden is excellent - also in attracting European funding.
TU Dresden is one of the most successful universities in Germany in the early period of Horizon 2020 – the new framework programme for Research and Innovation. With the interim result of 62 participations and a funding volume of EUR 36.57 million euros (as of 31 May 20161), TU Dresden is ranked as third place among all German universities – behind the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) and Technische Universität Munich.
This top ranking highlights TU Dresdens successful start in the new funding period. Academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration and an outstanding research infrastructure have made a decisive contribution to the successful participation in European funding programmes despite of underlying changing conditions.
Horizon 2020 was launched in 2014, while it was necessary to take during project applications into account the new clear strategic orientation on innovation and marketability of ideas as well as the increased focus on small and medium sized enterprises.
TU Dresden would like to continue its dedicated research work in the future and is looking forward to new excellent project participations in Horizon 2020. Together with its scientists, employees and other partners, TU Dresden is keen to maintain its top position in future rankings.
In order to further ensure a large participation in Horizon 2020 and to support TUD scientists in the best way, the EPC- as a "one-stop shop"- provides various consulting and management services in all phases of an EU project. In addition to individual counseling and comprehensive support, the EPC also organises workshops and events where general information about European funding programmes and about open calls for proposals are being provided.
Currently, the registration for the Regional Information Day Horizon 2020 on 24 August 2016 is open. This information event is being organized together with the Cool Silicon e.V. and the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Saxony and is aimed at universities and research institutions as well as small and medium sized enterprises, which are interested in the European funding opportunities in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).
