BMBF funding for initiation and networking actions in the Horizon program!
In its announcement of April 9th, 2021, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) presented the funding program “The European Innovation Union - German Impulses for the European Research Area”. The aim is to promote projects for cross-border networking and the development of project proposals for joint projects in the EU framework program for research and innovation Horizon Europe.
A total of € 40 million will be made available for these initiation and networking projects until 2025. Allocation to the thematic clusters in the second pillar of Horizon Europe is prerequisite (but no Coordination and Support Actions).
Specifically, projects for the preparation and creation of Horizon proposals are promoted, where the applicant must act as a coordinator. The announcement aims specifically at excellent institutions and researchers without previous coordination experience.
- The funding volume per application is a maximum of € 50,000 for 12 months.
Deadlines for submitting applications are January 31, May 31, September 30 (until 2023).
A German application form (AZA) with a brief project overview must be submitted as application documents. Prior contact with the funding agency in charge (DLR) is recommended.
The announcement can be seen as a complementary/synonymeous action to the EuProNet –“initial funding” of the Saxon Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK).
