Pre-announcement of the ERA CoBioTech 2nd co-funded call for transnational collaborative research projects with the topic “Biotechnology for a sustainable bioeconomy”
ERA CoBioTech will publish the second call for transnational R & D projects on "Biotechnology for a sustainable bioeconomy" on 16 October 2018. The estimated total budget is € 15.3 million. For Germany, the Saxon State Ministry for Science and the Arts (SMWK) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) are taking part in this project via the project executing organisation Jülich.
The 2nd call will officially start on 16 October 2018. Consortia can submit their applications online until 14 December 2018, 1 p.m..
Successful projects are supposed to start in summer 2019 after a single-stage evaluation process (peer-reviewed).
The second joint call will focus on innovative, multidisciplinary research and development projects that combine approaches from synthetic biology, systems biology and bioinformatics with biotechnological methods in order to …
- transform various raw materials and biological resources into bio-based value-added products in a sustainable way,
- to develop new products and services or
- to improve industrial processes in terms of their sustainability.
As a result, the projects should contribute to CO2 reduction and the saving of fossil resources.
Researchers from Saxon universities and research institutions are supported by the directive EuProNet and are called upon to prepare joint applications with their partners/consortia.
