ERC Proof of Concept Call 2020: Last chance in 2020
The European Research Council (ERC) has opened the call for ERC Proof of Concept Grants for 2020. The proof of concept grants amount to a maximum of 150,000 euros for a period of up to 18 months and are aimed exclusively at scientists who have already have been granted an ERC project. The ERC project must still be running or it must not have been completed for more than a year. The proof of concept grant can be used to examine the economic and social potential of ideas that have emerged from ERC projects.
The ERC does not finance research activities, but supports further development of the idea of the ERC project such as:
- Market research, technical validation,
- Feasibility studies,
- the clarification of intellectual property issues,
- the analysis of business opportunities or the creation of a business plan.
Funding for the ERC PoC is buttom-up-nature. In this way, the implementation of innovative ideas in the public and non-commercial sector can be funded, for example when it comes to solving social problems or realizing environmental protection goals. In such specific PoC projects, however, an overall social or economic benefit must be clearly recognizable. In 2020 there is still a remaining cut-off date: September 17, 2020. Only one application per grantee can be submitted in 2020.
