ERC readjusts announced resubmission rules for 2027 calls

After some backlash from within the scientific community the ERC readjusted some of the announced rules for reapplication. The main change is that for the working programme 2027 that it was decided not to change the re-submission restrictions for Starting, Consolidator, Advanced and ERC Plus Grants from those employed over the past years.

Eligibility for the 2027 StG, CoG and AdG calls will follow the same rules as in the past: 

• Applicants who received a C score at step 1 in the 2025 or 2026 StG/CoG/AdG call are not eligible.
• Applicants who received a B score at step 1 in the 2026 StG/CoG/AdG call are not eligible. 

Eligibility for the 2027 ERC Plus call will be as follows:

• Applicants who received a C score at step 1 in the 2025 or 2026 StG/CoG/AdG call are not eligible.
• Applicants who received a B score at step 1 in the 2026 StG/CoG/AdG call are not eligible.
• Applicants who were not retained at step 1 in the 2026 ERC Plus call are not eligible.

Eligibility for the 2027 SyG call will be as follows:

• Applicants who received a C score at step 1 in the 2025 or 2026 SyG/StG/CoG/AdG call are not eligible.
• Applicants who received a B score at step 1 in the 2026 SyG/StG/CoG/AdG call are not eligible.
• Note that eligibility of applicants for the 2028 calls will be determined only in the 2028 Work Programme
