First ERC Synergy Grant call open in Horizon Europe
The ERC Synergy Grant Call is aimed at teams of at least two to a maximum of four research and project leaders (Principal Investigators, PIs), who are characterized by a unique combination of complementary expertise, knowledge and resources. This allows them to work together on challenging scientific problems in a way that the individual PIs would not be able to do.
Teams can apply for up to 10 million euros per project for a period of up to six years.
A total budget of 297 million euros is available for the ERC SYG Call 2022.
The submission deadline is November 10, 2021.
One of the PIs takes on the role of the “Corresponding PI” as the group's contact person for the ERC. Applicants can be at an early stage of their career (early achievements track record / starter or consolidator level) or established researchers (10 years track record / advanced level).
Synergy Grants aim to make substantial advances at the frontiers of knowledge. Topics are open to new methods and technologies, unconventional approaches and research in the border area between disciplines. One of the Principal Investigators (with the exception of the Corresponding PI) can work at an institution outside the EU or the associated countries.
