European Commission published its proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027
On 2 May 2018, the European Commission published its proposal for the European Union’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) covering the period 2021-2027. The Commission has proposed a budget for the upcoming next Research Framework Programme „Horizon Europe“ (2021-2027) of 97.9 billion EUR.
According to the European Commission, “Horizon Europe“ retains the three pillar structure:
- Open Science (incl. ERC, Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Actions)
- Global Challenges and industrial competitiveness
- Open Innovation (e.g. EIC)
Furthermore, the European Commission proposed a doubling of Erasmus+ spending for an overall allocation of 30 billion EUR.
The MFF must be adopted by the European Parliament and the Council. The European Commission aims to finalise discussions still in the current legislative period. The Commission’s proposal for „Horizon Europe“ is expected to be published on 07 June, 2018.
