On March 10^th , 2022, the first call for proposals of the European Partnership for transforming Europe’s rail system was opened. Europe's Rail is the new European partnership for research and innovation in rail transport, established under Horizon Europe as the successor to the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking.

The work program for the current call provides an EU budget of 234 million Euros for the period 2022 to 2024 (out of which for 2022: 135.7 million Euros).

It identifies the following six thematic areas for the call:

• DESTINATION 1 – Network management planning and control & Mobility Management in a multimodal environment and Digital Enablers
• DESTINATION 2 – Digital & Automated up to Autonomous Train Operations
• DESTINATION 3 – Intelligent & Integrated asset management
• DESTINATION 4 – A sustainable and green rail system
• DESTINATION 5 – Sustainable Competitive Digital Green Rail Freight Services
• DESTINATION 6 – Regional rail services/Innovative rail services to revitalize capillary lines

Proposals for this call can be submitted until June 23^rd, 2022.
