Forest Value Call 2023 announced!
The ForestValue2 Joint Call 2023 aims to support a transnational collaborative systems approach to produce knowledge that supports the best use of forests and forest resources, while balancing the multiple benefits for society, climate, environment and the economy.
The Call has two themes:
Theme 1 – Resilient sustainable forest systems and management
Applicants should describe how the expected project results will be relevant to improved sustainable forest management that lead to resilient forest ecosystems mitigating the effects of climate change, enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem services. The proposal should describe how it will contribute to SDGs and carbon neutrality in the EU, particularly in the period up to 2050.
Theme 2 – Sustainable timber building systems
Applicants should focus on innovative structural timber building systems, displacement of high embedded energy material, consequential substitution effects and full life cycle assessment of environmental, social, and economic impacts of wood-based materials. Behavioural attitudes, organisational structures, policy and regulation, integrating cascading, circular and recycling wood principles, and sustainability must also be considered as appropriate.
Timeline and eligibility criteria:
- September 1st, 2023 – proposal submission
- Funding for joint projects with min three partner from three participating countries
- typically five to eight partners for medium-sized projects
- max 500,000 Euros per proposal for German applicants

Finland, Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain
