In the new EU funding period 2021-2027, the focus is on Europe's digital and green transformation. The EU framework program Horizon Europe is intended to help promote and strengthen the scientific, technological, economic and social transformation through research and innovation. Dealing with climate change is given central importance, as more than one third of the total budget is dedicated to this topic.
During the information and networking event, interested Dresden stakeholders will be informed about the upcoming calls within the EU program Horizon Europe (focus on Cluster 5). There will also be a focus on the most important concepts such as EU Missions and New European Bauhaus and Partnerships.
In addition, the event is intended to help interested stakeholders to network more closely, explore common interests and develop potential project ideas.
Stakeholders from science and research, administration, business and culture, industry, associations and civil society are invited.
The event is a cooperation between the City of Dresden and the European Project Center (EPC) of the TU Dresden and is organized together with the National Contact Point for Climate, Energy and Mobility (NKS KEM).
Horizon Europe is structured in three program pillars. Cluster 5 belongs to pillar 2 "Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness ", which includes the clusters and also the partnerships and missions. More information about Cluster 5 can be found here.
All information on the calls can be found in the current work program, which is divided into six thematic destinations.
Thematic bundling according to Clusters: Horizon Europe addresses the major societal challenges in six clusters. Cluster 5 covers the areas of climate, energy and mobility. The relevant calls for proposals can be found in a joint work program.
Introduction of the concept of EU Missions: With Horizon Europe, the EU Commission has established missions as a new, Europe-wide instrument. This is intended to meet the major societal challenges of our time. Accordingly, missions are large-scale, interdisciplinary programs. They define an ambitious, concrete and achievable goal to be reached within a certain period of time. Missions also rely on citizen participation. Their results should have high visibility and a sustainable impact on the overall system. The first missions will run until 2030.
European Partnerships under Horizon Europe: Similar to the predecessor program Horizon 2020, these are initiatives in which the European Commission and private and/or public partners commit to jointly supporting the development and implementation of a research and innovation program.
