Horizon Europe – Proposal for the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation published
On 7 June 2018, the European Commission has published its proposal for Horizon Europe, the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2021-2027).
The proposed budget allocation includes €94.1 billion under Horizon Europe and €2.4 billion for the Euratom Research and Training Programme.
According to the proposal, Horizon Europe is supposed to be based on three pillars: "Open Science", "Global Challenges & Industrial Competiveness", and "Open Innovation", complemented by an additional fourth programme area “Strengthening the European Research and Innovation Area”.
There are no major changes to the rules of participation, funding conditions and quotas compared to Horizon 2020; In addition to collaborative research, the funding of individual researchers and companies will be still possible.
Please find the official proposal of the European Commission under:

Important note: With the proposal of the European Commission, the European legislative procedure on "Horizon Europe" starts, i. e. that the Council and the European Parliament will negotiate in the coming months about the proposal. As usual, a lot of amendments will be made to the Commission proposal.
