New Call within the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND)
The EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) recently launched a joint transnational call to support health and social care research and innovation. Funding will be provided for ambitious, innovative, multi-national and multi-disciplinary collaborative research projects that address health and social care delivery at the macro level (system and infrastructures) as well as at the individual level of patients, their carers and families. The projects are expected to contribute to improving the quality of life for those affected by neurodegenerative diseases and the quality of care.
Proposals can apply to patients with any or several of the following neurodegenerative diseases:
- Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
- Prion diseases
- Motor neuron diseases
- Huntington’s disease
- Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA)
- Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
- Parkinson’s disease and PD‐related disorders.
To have an impact at European and partner country levels, it is expected that all proposals will link activities across laboratories/clinics/care settings within JPND member countries. Consortia are equally expected to make every effort to include Patient and Public Involvement approaches, where appropriate, at each stage of the research process including the preparation of the application.
Each proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of six regular partners from at least three different countries participating in this call.
The projects will be funded for a period of up to three years with a total budget of 21 Mio. Euros. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research will contribute 3 Mio. Euros. For German participants a maximum funding of 400.000 Euros will be provided; in case two German participants receive funding, the total amount will be 600.000 Euros.
The submission of proposals is organised in a two-stage procedure. Pre-proposals must be submitted no later than 23:59h C.E.T. on 6 March 2018 via the electronic submission tool. Successful proposals will be invited by the Joint Call Secretariat to submit a full proposal no later than 23:59h C.E.T. on 27 June 2018.
