Open Access Publication Platform of the EU Commission officially launched
On 24 March 2021, the EU Commission's open access publication platform was launched. "Open Research Europe - ORE" is funded by the EU Commission and grants open access to results and publications from all scientific disciplines from EU-funded projects. In this way, the EU Commission is responding to difficulties that are often associated with the publication of scientific results.
A prerequisite for publication via Open Research Europe is that at least one author must be involved in a Horizon 2020- or Horizon Europe-funded project and the submitted article must be a result of this project. In addition, the publication must not have been published elsewhere before. The use of Open Research Europe is free of charge and also has the advantage of ensuring compliance with the Open Access requirements of the EU Research Framework Programme. However, researchers are not obliged to use this publication platform.
After a formal review (completeness, originality, ethical aspects), submissions are immediately published as a preprint (under a CC-BY licence) and then evaluated by peer reviewers, whereby both the evaluations and the names of the reviewers are publicly accessible (open peer review).
