PRIMA-Call about water management and agriculture in the Mediterranean area!
The PRIMA - Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area launched a call for proposals 2026. The focus is on developing sustainable solutions to key challenges in the Mediterranean region, particularly in the areas of water management, agricultural systems, and value chains in the agri-food sector. Funding is provided for transnational research and innovation projects involving more than 20 countries from Europe and the southern and eastern Mediterranean regions.
Section 1 of the PRIMA work program includes three separate funding priorities, each with approximately 10.8 million euros in project funding:
- Thematic Area 1 - Water management in Nexus: Decentralised Brackish Water Desalination for Climate-Resilient and Resource-Efficient Mediterranean Agriculture
- Thematic Area 2 - Farming systems in Nexus: Next Generation of Sustainable and Alternative Animal Feeds for Circular and Resilient Mediterranean Farming Systems
- Thematic Area 3 - Agri-food value chain in Nexus: Sustainable on-site transformation of perishable Mediterranean agri-products
Section 2 includes three funding priorities in a single call for proposals with a total budget of approximately 36 million euros:
- Thematic Area 1 - Water management in the Nexus: Leveraging Ecosystem Functions and Enhancing Water Allocation for the Protection and Restoration of Non-Perennial Watercourses in the Mediterranean
- Thematic Area 2 - Farming systems in the Nexus: Novel remote and non-invasive ICT monitoring and control systems against disease and pest infestation
- Thematic Area 3 - Food value chain in the Nexus: Empowering Mediterranean Food Value Chains through Context-Aware Digital Traceability
