The New European Bauhaus (NEB) is developing into a wide-ranging building culture initiative of the European Union. Shortly after the start of her term of office, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described it as the "soul of the European Green Deal", making it clear that as a cross-cutting theme it is to be of great importance in all areas that contribute to achieving the goals of the Green Deal.

on 20 September 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to approx. 4:00 p.m.
in the Festive Hall Alte Mensa of the TU Dresden
Mommsenstraße 13/15, 01069 Dresden (access opposite Dülferstraße 1)

The programme will include:

• Classification of the NEB (old vs. new Bauhaus);
• First-hand information from the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission and the National Contact Point for the NEB;
• Productive exchange between the participants in suitable formats (World Café, fishbowl, topic tables);
• First joint reflections on a Saxon NEB manifesto;
• Information on funding in connection with NEB projects;
• Opportunity for networking and informal exchange.

Registration is now possible on the Saxon participation portal at https://mitdenken.sachsen.de/neb-vernetzungstreffen. A detailed agenda will be announced in early August 2023 and continuously updated on the participation portal.

Background:

First ideas for the NEB content design were collected in 2021 in a co-creative process initiated by the European Commission. In 2022 first projects across Europe were selected for awards or funding according to – still relatively vague – criteria of the NEB. At the beginning of 2023, the so-called NEB Compass was published, which already contains a more binding orientation framework for the values and selection criteria of the NEB.

As the topics of the NEB are becoming more concrete and are included in more and more calls for proposals, the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development considers an exchange among each other to be necessary as a first step. The event is being organised jointly with the European Project Center (EPC) of the TU Dresden, the Central EU Service Saxony (ZEUSS) and the City of Dresden.
