Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Prize 2026
The Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Prize is awarded jointly by the Stifterverband in the category "Science and Society" and the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina - National Academy of Sciences. The prize honors scientists or research teams who have made a contribution to the scientific treatment of socially important problem areas. The prize money comprises 30,000 euros from funds provided by the Stifterverband.
The selection committee requires the following documents for its decision:
- Title page with details of the persons to be honored (if applicable, specifying how the prize is to be divided among the persons listed), details of the title of the achievements to be honored, 10 to 15 lines of brief description stating the key words,
- Concise description of the achievements to be honored and their relevance to society (in language that is also understandable for non-experts, maximum length 5 pages),
- Acknowledgements of the persons to be honored, indicating their share in the contribution to be honored and their position in international comparison,
- A list of publications by the nominees from the last five years as well as one or two prominent publications and
- CVs of all nominees.
