German Thesis Award

The German Academic Award is aimed at early-career researchers from all departments who have submitted an excellent dissertation of particular social importance in 2025.

Prizes with a total value of 135,000 euros are awarded annually for the German Academic Award. In each of the three subject groups - social sciences, natural and technical sciences and humanities and cultural studies - one top prize of 25,000 euros and two second prizes of 10,000 euros are awarded.

The aim is to encourage young scientists to confidently represent the social value of their research and contribute to the public debate. The German Study Prize is awarded to doctoral candidates who have presented research results that are of outstanding interest to society.
