DVWG e.V. Award- People, Society, Mobility
Objectives
The “People, Society, Mobility” Award recognizes outstanding scholarly work by early-career researchers who examine mobility as a social and societal issue. The focus is on contributions that examine mobility in connection with questions of justice, participation, fairness, inclusion, and accessibility, or power relations in the context of mobility, while taking into account different perspectives and lived realities in an intersectional manner. The award recognizes theoretical, empirical, or methodological works that are scientifically sound, take a people-centered approach to mobility, and open up new avenues and approaches for research, planning, policy, or practice.
Requirements
The jury evaluates the submitted works based on how convincingly they analyze mobility as a socially shaped phenomenon. The decisive factor is not merely the thematic proximity to transportation or mobility, but the scholarly quality of the examination of the social dimensions of mobility. Particular weight will be given to works that examine unequal mobility opportunities, barriers, opportunities for participation, or issues of equity in a nuanced manner, while analytically incorporating different lived realities.
