International TUD|excite Summer School
"PATENTS IN SEARCH OF NEW BUSINESS" (25.-29.08.2025, Lausitz)
The TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) is one of the most patent-rich universities in Europe. Together with our inventors, TUD makes selected patents available to enthusiastic innovators and potential founders to facilitate the step into a startup or into cooperation with established companies.
We at TUD|excite invite young scientists to contribute their technical and/or Business Administration and Economics know-how to our teams of inventors and to design product ideas and business models based on selected patents. Applicants have the opportunity to work in international and interdisciplinary teams from the TUD network and other universities, the DRESDENconcept partners and universities from neighboring European countries Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Poland, to get to know new methods of idea generation and business model development and to develop their own career prospects. Experienced scientists, entrepreneurs and experts from the TUD network support the entire process.
The International TUD|excite Summer School is at the heart of the Zuse Innovators Program (Z-IP) and has set itself the task of using high-quality university patents for the founding of start-ups by international founding teams in Lusatia.
The Z-IP thus correlates with the special work of Konrad Zuse as the inventor of the first computer in Germany and has particularly distinguished himself through his inventions and his struggle for patents and the founding of a digital innovation company. He spent his youth in Hoyerswerda and graduated from high school there. His name connects the town with our current outstanding innovation topics.
Participants of the TUD|excite Summer School will have the opportunity to benefit from preparatory and follow-up measures and thus become part of the patent incubation program.
The Summer School program comprises 5 days. We provide intensive training through focused lectures, workshops, expert panels and group work with supervised coaching. The one-week TUD|excite Summer School is combined with an attractive supporting program and takes place in Hoyerswerda, in the future region of Lusatia. The costs for accommodation, meals and the program between 25 and 29 August in the city of Hoyerswerda will be fully covered. Travel costs are to be covered by the participants themselves. International guests have the option of applying to the ERASMUS program for support with travel costs: Higher Education (staff training) - Erasmus+ (europa.eu).
