TU Dresden presents excellents projects at the cebit 2016
The Cluster of Excellence, funded with 34 million EUR as part of the Excellence Initiative, researchers completely new technologies for the electronic data processing of the future. The scientists around Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Gerhard Fettweis of the Vodafone Chair Mobile Communications Systems, use innovative materials such as Silicon Nanowires, Carbon Nanotubes or Polymers, in order to braek into completely new dimensions regarding energy efficiency, reliability and smooth functioning of different components. The Dresden-based microelectronics researchers are being inspired by Mother Nature when it comes to the thrilling topic of biological communication systems.
The Centre for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) led by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nagel is a centre of competence for parallel computing and software tools. As coordinating partner of the ScaDS/Leipzig (Competence Center for Scalable Data Services and Solution), the ZIH presents the newest research results in the subject areas of Scalability, Energy Efficiency in High Performance Computing as well as its current research in Big Data.
The upcoming, fifth generation (5G) of mobile networks will drastically change the existing wireless communication technology. New markets are in sight: Industry 4.0 or intelligent electricity grids are just a few examples. 20 TU Dresden researchers are involved with their expertise in the large "5G Lab Germany" consortium with a total of over 600 researchers, helping to solve the important key questions of the future.
Dr. Hajo Wiemer from the Institute of Machine Tools and Control Engineering would like to convince the expert Cebit-audience, mainly manufacturing and material processing companies, of the advantages of his all-in-one "Detact"system. The system creates a complete picture of each process chain and makes it mathematically describable. It is immediately useable and enables companies to optimise their production processes in a goal-oriented way.
