Europe and Saxony Jointly Build Bridges for an Innovative Future
Sächsische Aufbaubank has approved the first two projects with a total volume of EUR 35 million in the framework of the new funding guideline. The Free State of Saxony supports these projects with approximately EUR 21 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Heliatek received an individual grant worth EUR 19.7 million – the most extensive that Saxony has ever awarded in the field of technology promotion. The second grant goes to the companies Indikar Individual Karosseriebau GmbH (Wilklau-Haßlau) and Albert Schmutzler GbR based in Aue.
Heliatek has ambitious plans: The Dresden-based company wants to shape the energy supply of tomorrow. With a pilot line for reel-to-reel processes of organic solar films with a width of up to 1,200 mm and an increased efficiency rate, it is the company’s aim to encourage the breakthrough of organic photovoltaics as well as – more or less as a side effect – open up new areas of application. The technology leader in organic photovoltaics believes in excellent opportunities in respect thereof.
“With our unique technology, we would like to innovatively and sustainably contribute to the future global energy supply. The funding in key technologies enables the further development from technology leadership towards industrial production”, states Heliatek CEO Thibaud Le Séguillon, describing the company’s vision. Dr. Martin Pfeiffer, CTO and co-founder of Heliatek adds: “After the realisation of promising application projects and a successful round of financing, this is a further highlight of our Jubilee year.”
With its Germany-wide unique state programme of Key Enabling Technologies Pilot Lines, Saxony supports in particular SMEs with turning technological innovations into industrial applications.
