TU Dresden's events on campus and in the city offer people of all generations the opportunity to interact with science. They also provide space for exchange and discussion.

Dresden Science Night

With 250 events (2023), TU Dresden is the most prominently represented research institution at Dresden Science Night. During Dresden Science Night, the University of Excellence opens its doors and offers visitors a glimpse into its laboratories, lecture halls and archives. Experiments, tours, and presentations allow young and old alike to experience research at TUD up close.

Children’s University Dresden

Each semester, the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum and TU Dresden organize lectures for children between the ages of eight and twelve. The event is open to all children who want to learn more about our world. Participation is free of charge.

TUD Lectures

TUD Lectures provide an insight into current research at TU Dresden and facilitate discussion between the public and researchers. The event is open to the public as well as TUD members. Everyone is warmly invited to ask questions and join in the discussion.

The “TUD in Dialogue” Excellence project creates informal spaces for dialogue and participation between researchers and the public in Dresden and the region. The aim of these events, which are mostly outreach in nature, is to promote a constructive culture of debate and contribute to reducing skepticism towards science.

Science Slam

Clear the stage for perhaps the most entertaining form of science communication! During the science slams, researchers have a few minutes to present their research in as entertaining and understandable a way as possible – just like they did here at Dresden Science Night in 2023. The audience gets to vote on who was the best at mastering this challenge. Read more

OUTPUT.DD

Students and staff of the Faculty of Computer Science present the results of their teaching and research to the public once a year. Visitors are invited to discover and engage with installations, workshops, presentations, and exhibitions. OUTPUT.DD also offers the opportunity to talk to local companies about exciting research topics. Learn more

Meet the luminary under the conifer

Pines as the Tree of Knowledge? On four Sundays in summer, you can learn about innovative research, unsolved problems, and the long road to discovering new answers under the conifers in TUD’s Botanical Garden. In the midst of the lush garden setting, guests can talk with scientists and ask them questions. Learn more

StuFoExpo

Discover student research at first hand: At StuFoExpo, students take center stage and present their research either in the conventional format of a live pitch and poster, or in a science slam. The best entry in each category, selected by a panel of judges and the audience, will receive a cash prize. Learn more
