Degree programme Antike Kulturen (MA)

The Master's degree programme Antike Kulturen provides students with in-depth historical, philological, exegetical and religious-historical knowledge for an understanding of the ancient cultures of the Mediterranean region over a standard period of 4 semesters. The degree programme is interdisciplinary and is jointly supported by the subjects of Ancient History, Biblical Theology and Classical Philology. Graduates of the Master's degree programme are distinguished on the one hand by their in-depth and broadened knowledge of ancient cultures; above all, however, they have acquired the methodological and analytical tools to access scattered and incomplete information, which is characteristic of antiquity in general, to draw logically sound conclusions from it and to develop plausible reconstructions and concepts. To this end, students work on philological, historical and religious-historical issues during the course of their studies.
