Biblical Theology (Catholic)
The Bible has shaped not only the Jewish and Christian faith, but also European culture like no other text, and continues to do so to this day.
The Chair of Biblical Theology in Dresden has its core research areas in the Old Testament; it is interdisciplinary, international and transfer- and practice-oriented.
The following questions provide a brief insight into our activities and invite you to find out more on the pages of the Chair of Biblical Theology
- In addition to authority and canonicity, diversity and ambiguity are essential characteristics of the Bible. - Which interpretation of biblical texts is therefore appropriate?
- The Babylonian exile (from around 586 BC) can be regarded as THE upheaval in the history of Israel. - How is the struggle to reconstitute Israel reflected in the post-exilic texts of the Old Testament?
- Talk of God and talk of man, as we encounter them in the Old Testament, are characterized by ancient oriental imagery. - What symbolism is associated with plant life? Why is the only God also a comforting mother?
