Prof. Maria Häusl is the new Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science
The 2026–27 winter semester begins at the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science with a new Dean's Office. Prof. Dominik Schrage (Chair of Sociological Theories and Cultural Sociology) stepped down from the office of dean at the end of the 2026 summer semester. He had been elected to the position on an exceptional basis, serving only until the end of the 2026 summer semester. Prof. Maria Häusl (Chair of catholic Biblical Theology) will succeed him. She was elected as the new Dean by the Faculty Board on September 16, 2026.
The faculty’s Vice-Deans and Dean of Studies were also newly elected. Prof. Hannes Ziegler (Chair of Early Modern History) assumes the position of Vice-Dean; the new Vice-Dean for teacher education is Prof. Christin Lübke (Chair of Art Education), and Prof. Stefan Michel (Chair of Protestant Church History) is the new Dean of Studies.
The School Council thanks the outgoing members of the Dean’s Office for their work and dedication and wishes Prof. Häusl, Prof. Ziegler, Prof. Lübke, and Prof. Michel much success and all the best for their new terms of office!
