New episode of #TeamUnischuleTUD: Taking new paths during your studies that are meaningful, relevant to life and child-friendly.
Julian Fischer is studying to become a teacher at TU Dresden. Already during his studies, he is getting to know the "school of the future". He completed his school internship A in a new format, not as a block, but one day a week throughout the semester. This allowed him to experience early on in his studies how pupils can develop over a longer period of time with his support - as a learning facilitator instead of frontal teacher.
After his internship, he stayed on as a teaching assistant (a.k.a. student learning facilitator) at Dresden University School. Here he particularly enjoys "experiencing how children can become intrinsically enthusiastic about learning subjects if you let them choose. The projects they set up and the interesting ideas they pursue. That school can be a place where children feel comfortable and motivation to learn is encouraged."
You can read the entire interview in the #TeamUnischuleTUD series on the school website universitaetsschule.org/team.
Are you studying to become a teacher at TU Dresden and would like to complete your block internship A and B at the University School Dresden?
What can you expect?
You will complete your internship A for one school day each week (8.00/8.30 to 15.00) at the University School Dresden. You will then be able to complete your SPÜ in one subject (12 weeks, usually October-January or May-July). For the SPÜ you will be at Dresden University School once a week for approx. 2 hours.
You will then complete the Blockpraktikum B in the same subject at the University School Dresden on one day each at the school. You will complete the SPÜ and the block internship for your second subject at other schools in Saxony.
Enrollment and procedure
For an internship at the University School Dresden, you usually have to enrol in an OPAL course. Before you start your internship at the University School Dresden, you will attend mandatory events: the introduction to the internship and an event on the concept of the University School. Your internship will be accompanied by events on peer case consultation, and participation in three events is mandatory. In addition, individual consultations are offered by the academic director of the school trial.
The formalities and content of the internship report will be discussed in the event before the start of the internship. The scope of the report corresponds to the requirements of the module.
