Teaching kitchen

Since the 2018/19 winter semester, students studying Teacher Training - Middle Schools and the Vocational Department of Food, Nutrition and Home Economics have had optimal conditions to acquire and deepen their basic knowledge and practical skills in the field of nutrition and consumer education. The combination of the seminar rooms with the state-of-the-art teaching kitchen gives students the opportunity to combine theoretical and practical content in a targeted manner and to try out teaching and learning arrangements.

The teaching kitchen is used by the following chairs:

• Vocational Department of Food, Nutrition and Home Economics under the responsibility of Ms. JProf_.in Markert of the Junior Professorship_in Nutrition and Home Economics and Vocational Didactics
• Vocational Departments of Metal and Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering under the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Koerber for the subject of Economics-Technology-Household/Social Sciences

Courses

The seminar rooms and the teaching kitchen are used by the Junior Professorship of Nutrition and Home Economics and the Chair WTH/S for the following courses:

• Applied dietetics
• Bromatics
• Sensory examinations
• Experiments in the classroom
• In-depth study of nutrition

The rooms are also used for interdisciplinary subject-specific events. These include, among others:

• Dresden Science Night,
• practical workshops organized by health management and the
• State competition for secondary schools in Saxony.
