Landesforum Weiterbildung on November 2 in Dresden: Actively shaping change
Under the title "Continuing education in transition: needs, structures and perspectives in Saxony", stakeholders, providers and interested parties from the adult and continuing education sector will meet at the beginning of November to discuss current challenges and strategies in Saxony's continuing education landscape.
Continuing education can have many goals: additional qualifications in the job, retraining on the way to a completely new career or a leisure course to deepen one's own interests. However, the continuing education market is also always a seismograph of social change and development processes and is affected by permanent change and pressure to adapt. Despite low public awareness, hardly any other area of the education system reacts so sensitively to social and labor market-related changes.
The constantly changing world of work, increasingly digital job requirements and challenging situations such as the shortage of skilled workers are leading to an increasing demand for further training and also for needs-based content that reflects current social discourse: Just as Microsoft Office courses once replaced shorthand training, broad cross-cutting topics are becoming increasingly relevant today, with digitalization, sustainability and AI leading the way. Further education providers must respond to this. They have the difficult task of recognizing such trends at an early stage and developing a contemporary programme. Existing structures are also coming under increasing pressure as they have to become more flexible in order to be able to respond to short-term needs.
Against this backdrop, the State Forum for Continuing Education 2023 is addressing the transformation of Saxony's continuing education landscape. The focus will be on the changing educational needs of the population and on changing organizational structures. While two keynote speeches will look at the modernization of continuing education providers and the influence of artificial intelligence, the six specialist forums will address topics such as digital educational certificates, the interlinking of vocational and general continuing education, sustainability strategies and organizational development processes. In addition to scientific input, the State Forum for Continuing Education is also an opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences for Saxony's continuing education providers.
The State Forum for Continuing Education will take place on November 2, 2023 at the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB). The conference is organized by the State Advisory Council for Adult Education of the Saxon State Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the State Working Group for Continuing Education in Saxony. This year's organizers are the Saxon Adult Education Association and the Chair of Adult Education at TU Dresden. Participation is free of charge.
